People present in the meeting: Hubert, Maryline, Gerard, Ioannis, Patryk and Franco
Decisions taken:
- PXI cleaning: we could potentially do an automatic cleaning of the PXI after 6 months of the file creation, with the assumption that, if the file was corrupted when automatically copied by the FTP daemon, the operators would copy them manually. Doing this task manually takes about one week of Maryline’s time per year. Maryline pointed out that she profits from this time to remove from the mtbop server useless data, and that cannot be automatized. Franco mentioned that one way to filter out useless data could be to compare the DAQ and DAQ_TDMS folders, and remove those in DAQ that are not in DAQ_TDMS. There was no consensus if this solution was good enough, and as such we decided that Maryline will continue doing the yearly manual cleaning. This decision can be revisited if new ideas come up.
- Folder structure: to avoid potential problems with programs that write in the DIODES folder, and to make the root folder cleaner, it was proposed to move MTB_fos and MTB_strain into MTB_meas. Also, a folder for HV tests and another for the DMM will be added in MTB_meas. The updated slides in Indico (“File structure change”) show the agreed upon structure. Regarding DMM and HV files: SM18 team will work to organize the old ones; Hubert’s team will implement a copy into the new folder for the next DMM and HV software release
- Archiving logic: we will only archive the MTB_meas folders, with the right folder structure. The logic will be: once per year, archive all files that are older than one year. To check with Enzo: if the yearly archiving can be done on-demand, and what are the already archived files to check they can be accessed OK (Maryline and Franco)
- DMM file names: it was agreed to implement, but Maryline will check with FAIR if they have any comment/preference/complaint/suggestion. In principle we will try to use the same convention in both FAIR and SM18. The implementation proposed by us is: [magnet name]__[PXInumber][date]_[test type]__[comment, max 30 char]. The file name would be forced by the settings in the DMMH software. The files will be stored in MTB_meas/DMM/[magnet name]
- HV file names: it was proposed to do a similar implementation, but the previous name convention was not clear. Maryline, Franco and Patryk? will check what files are produced in the new HV software version, what other dependencies there are (i.e. reporting), and propose a solution. It is desired that the name format is similar to the DMM files. The files will be stored in MTB_meas/HV/[magnet name]
Action list (extracted from above):
- check with Enzo about archiving on-demand (Maryline and Franco)
- check with Enzo about already archived files (Maryline and Franco)
- check we can access already archived files (Franco)
- Implement new folder structure, with right permissions (Hubert and Maryline)
- Implement change in file name for DMM software (Hubert, Patryk)
- Implement copy to the MTB_meas/DMM server the DMM data (Hubert, Patryk)
- Propose a new name convention for HV data (Maryline, Franco, Patryk?)
- Implement change in file name for HV software (Hubert, Patryk)
- Implement copy to the MTB_meas/HV server the HV data (Hubert, Patryk)
