Optical fibre BLM (Belen)
- Collaboration with Huddersfield (UK), EN-STI and EN-EL
- Existing BLM detectors cover small area - request to cover meters -> fibres
- Study of standard Silica fibres coupled with optical detectors (Cherenkov radiation)
- Reminder of how Cherenkov light is emitted
- Reminder of previous studies at CTF3
- Prepare infrastructure for prototype in LSS2/SPS
- Fibre duct installed over 200m from extraction point to beginning of TT20 and a first 100m fibre is installed (EN/EL). A second fibre to be installed before beam restart
- Radiation-safe locations for detector electronics with read-out electronics have been identified
- Preliminary simulation results (Python library)
- First tests on CLEAR show promising results (800mV output)
- Read-out electronics to be redesigned (W. Vigano providing advice)
- Hope to get something for testing with beam during 2021 (with scope in BA2)
