Discussion:

  • Agreed to have fixed optics for injection and extraction:
    • The optics will assume the nominal working-point for both injection and extractions, depending on the beam type (BCMS25, LHC25, TOF, ...).
    • It is important to remember that the optics in LSA right now does not distinguish different factors for ring-by-ring, as all the rings are contained in one optics. So the BI.KSW, BE.BSW, Extraction Position/Angle knobs will have the SAME factor for all the rings. The difference in optics between rings should not be large enough to require an higher level of flexibility. If during beam commissioning, we realize that we need the full flexibility, this issue will be addressed.
    • The optics should be renamed like psb_inj_bcms_qx_X.XXX_qy_Y.YYY to spell the tune associated with each beam. Action for Alex
    • The Tune Control application will have to stick at the beginning and at the end the fixed optics per beam type. For the extraction the optics should start from C800 and not only C805. Action for JF
      • Michi asked to add in the table sent to LSA the same optics at injection to C0 and the same optics at extraction to C1200. Action for JF
  • For the shavers knobs, they will be associated with each optics, and they will have factors optics-dependent:
    • The optics in LSA right now does not distinguish different factors for rings as all the rings are contained in one optics. Action for JF to review with Michi how to implement this request.
  • Once the new optics and knobs are available, Michi and GP will insert them in LSA
  • Everytime that the tune is changed an optics should be potentially generated and inserted in LSA. Hannes suggested that a warning could be raised when the tune diverge from the optics in LSA. Action for ABP to propose the condition to raise the warning.
