Description

The holographic principle tells us that quantum theories of gravity behave like lower dimensional theories without gravity. We will review lessons learned from applying this principle in the context of gauge/gravity duality and black hole thermodynamics, show how it has guided recent efforts to recast scattering amplitudes in terms of a conformal field theory living on the celestial sphere, and discuss what we might hope to gain by combining amplitudes and conformal bootstrap technology.
