Description

Live conference by Erik H.M. Heijne, Inst. Exp. & Appl. Physics, Czech Technical University in Prague, CERN EP Dept. Genève

Ionizing particles create free charge carriers in semiconductors. Over many years, the development of specific electronics has ever more facilitated the use of this type of sensor, for a range of applications. Microscopic segmentation and sophisticated signal processing allow various properties of the incident quantum to be determined. With a focus on pixel detectors, a historical perspective, state of the art, and future developments are briefly presented.
