Location/Getting there

The workshop will be held in the Galileo Galilei Institute for Theoretical Physics (GGI), in the South part of the city. It is located 1.5 km from the Porta Romana neighborhood where we suggest to book your hotel.

Getting there

By plane

The closest airport is Florence Airport, Peretola, 45' by public transportation and 20' by taxi from the workshop venue.

By train

Train travel from Geneva to Florence is possible, with a connection in Milan (~6-7h total). The central train station is Firenze Santa Maria Novella, 30' by public transportation and 15' by taxi from the workshop venue.

Recommended way of getting from Florence airport to the centre of the city/main railway station is :

T2 tram line : from Aeroporto Peretola to Alamanni Stazione (it runs very frequently..every few minutes).

To reach Galileo Galilei Institute from the center a number of buses are available:

11 (--> La Gora) from Stazione Scalette to Gelsomino Poggio Imperiale

12 (--> Piazzale Michelangelo) from Il Prato-Barbetti to Galileo San Leonardo

36 (--> Cascine del Riccio)from Piazza Santa Maria Novella to Petrarca Porta Romana

37 (--> Tavarnuzze) from Piazza Santa Maria Novella to Petrarca Porta Romana

with about 15 minutes of walking and climbing along the hill up to Largo E. Fermi.

38A from Porta Romana to Largo Enrico Fermi directly, but not very frequent.

38A (--> Largo E. Fermi) from San Giusto della Calza to Largo E. Fermi

You can also use 38B.

38B (--> Pian dei Giullari) from San Giusto della Calza to Torre del Gallo 05

Then walk through Via del Pian dei Giullari and Via Guglielmo Righini.
