The winner of the 2022 Lise Meitner prize is Prof. Phil Walker (University of Surrey). The prize is given every two years for outstanding work in the fields of experimental, theoretical or applied nuclear science and Prof. Walker has been awarded the prize for seminal contributions to the understanding of long-lived nuclear excited “isomeric” states and the factors that determine their half-lives, that range from nanoseconds to years.
The award ceremony will be in held in the Salon Noble (Pazo de Fonseca) of the University of Santiago de Compostela by Monday 24th. The ceremony will be followed by a welcome reception that will also take place in Pazo de Fonseca.
This magnificent building, dating from the 16th century, was the first headquarters of the University of Santiago de Compostela.
The celebration program will be completed with a performance of an outreach activity sponsored by the IGFAE, Hamamatsu Photonics Spain and NPD-EPS.
The show will be performed in Spanish by the CRIT Companyia de Teatre and will take place on Monday 24th at 21.00h in the Abanca Auditorium (Google Maps Code: VFJ5+53 Santiago de Compostela).
