Well-being and Positive Mental Health in research career

In recent years, academia has been facing a mental health crisis affecting especially early career researchers (ECRs). Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has posed an unprecedented burden for the mental health of academic community. We offer a theoretical-practical workshop where you will gain a new perspective of the research career.

PhD candidates and young post-docs will learn several techniques to improve well-being and motivation during the completion of the doctoral thesis. A broader perspective on the research career and its challenges will be offered. Gamified practical exercises for self-regulation and self-leadership will be proposed.

Post-docs and senior researchers will receive techniques to improve leadership and goal achievement, as well as to manage stress, communication and team-work.

This workshop aims to provide empirical data on researchers’ mental Health and some evidence-based techniques to maintain and improve cognitive-emotional well-being and to increase overall positive mental health. The main occupational mental-health risks associated with the research career will also be presented. Moreover, several strategies to overcome them will be proposed.
