Description
In the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) the normalized horizontal and vertical emittances of the e+ and e- beams must be reduced to 500 nm and 5 nm before the beams enter the 3 TeV linear accelerator. An effective way to accomplish ultra-low emittances are damping rings operating at 2.86 GeV. Damping rings are storage rings, each will be equipped with 52 strong wiggler magnets. In first approximation damping wigglers are more effective the shorter the period length and the stronger the magnetic field is.
The goal of the meeting is to decide on the main parameters. Further, a tentative experimental program for the first Nb-Ti full-scale prototype, which will be tested at the synchrotron light source ANKA at KIT, Karlsruhe, Germany, has to be formulated.
The goal of the full-scale prototype is to prove the feasibility of such devices.
