Discussion on PyJAPCScout and SWAN on TN 25m
Speakers: Davide Gamba (CERN), Guido Sterbini (CERN), Philip Elson (CERN)
      • PyDA will be available by end of 2022
        • Possibility to work in "demo" mode (i.e. including ways to perform data saving)
      • Till then, we will keep using PyJapcScout: it is a minimum layer on top of pyjapc to provide easier interface for the user (single callback, monitoring of multiple devices and data saving)
        • Davide to continue maintaining it for the time being
        • Idea to hopefully replace it by PyDA, if not possible, at least use it as interface to PyDA instead of PyJapc when the first will be available.
      • ABP desiderata:
        • Possibility to get a "device" description via Python (e.g. pyccda, but via single interface as PyDA?)
        • Possibility that also in LHC we might need to use JAPC instead of NXCALS for MDs
          • possible to use the same interface and just "flag" if to get the data from NXCALS or via JAPC?
        • Trim history being stored also on NXCALS (Jorg+Michi)
          • reason more to be able to get with same interface data from NXCALS
        • Possibility to store the data locally (and on HDFS?)
      • The MD users of the injectors (Hannes, Alex, Benoit) will be informed

It was noted the in case of too long latency for NXCALS data availability, PyDA and now PyJapcScout will be also used for LHC MDs.
