Building on the scientific and technological expertise developed by the Swiss Community on the current generation ground-based high-energy gamma-ray telescopes, the participation to the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory (CTAO) is entering the hottest phase of construction.

At this meeting we will discuss the Swiss contributions and the scientific goals of CTAO.

The first day will focus on Swiss activities and their future and the second day on the Science of interest of the Swiss Community in CTAO and present activities.

This meeting is the third edition of the Swiss CTA days. Presentations in the first edition are accessible online:

Swiss CTA Day 2020

Swiss CTA Day 2022

CTAO will be composed of 2 arrays in La Palma Canarian island and in Chile for a total of more than 60 telescopes. It will be about ten times more sensitive than current instruments and have an unprecedented energy coverage and accuracy. CTAO should pursue to become an open-access observatory of interest for the scientific community worldwide.

Swiss scientists from the University of Geneva, EPFL, ETH, and University of Zürich are members of the Cherenkov Telescope Array Consortium since 2005. The University of Geneva is the leading Institute in Switzerland of the Cherenkov Telescope Array Observatory gGmbH and the University of Zürich one of the three Institutes which founded the CTAO gGmbH.

The countries participating in CTA are currently in the process of establishing the CTAO European Research Infrastructure Consortium (CTAO ERIC), which will construct, commission and operate CTA for an intended period of more than 20 years.

At the end of a vibrant year of activities in 2022, the premises of which were discussed in the Swiss CTA Day 2022, the status and future activities of the Swiss collaborators on the construction of CTAO will be discussed at the Swiss CTA Day 2022-2023, as well as the scientific activities related to CTA.

We are pleased to invite you to participate to these discussions.

A mixed configuration on zoom and in-person is foreseen and in-person participation is highly encouraged.
