Kerala, located on the south-western tip of India, fondly referred to as ‘God’s Own Country’, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in India. Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine and Panchakarma, the rejuvenation therapy in Ayurveda have also helped Kerala to gain a pan-global reputation as a worth-visit destination.
Kovalam is a beach town on the Arabian Sea, located at Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala. Kovalam features three spectacular crescent beaches - Hawa Beach, Lighthouse Beach and Samudra Beach. A massive rocky promontory on the beach has created a beautiful bay of calm waters ideal for sea bathing. The leisure options at Kovalam are plenty and diverse include sunbathing, swimming, herbal body toning massages, special cultural programmes and catamaran cruising.
Other nearby places of interest include Agasthyamala (UNESCO biosphere reserve) rain forests, Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary, Kallar, Braemore, Ponmudi hills, Poovar, Anchuthengu backwaters, Varkala Cliffs and Kappil-Edava lakes.The city is also known for its unique style of architecture involving Kerala Architecture with British and Dravidian influences such as the Napier museum, Thiruvanathapuram Zoo, Padmanabha Swamy temple, Kuthira Malika palace and Kilimanoor palace.The main museums include Kerala Science and Technology Museum (with its attached Priyadarsini Planetarium), Napier Museum, Kerala Soil Museum and Koyikkal Palace Museum.
