Description

The Multi Ion Relection Apparatus for Collinear Laser Spectroscopy (MIRACLS)  is a novel approach to Collinear Laser Spectroscopy (CLS). It is a complex experiment and needs a robust, unified control system. This is were EPICS can help us. EPICS provides a set of open-source tools for creating control systems. It allows for the creation of control systems that can be accessed from anywhere within a given network. EPICS also makes it easy to build user interfaces, some of which will be shown in this presentation. In short, EPICS greatly streamlines the operation of the MIRACLS experiment.
