Transportation from Cairo Airport

Cairo International Airport (IATACAIICAOHECA) is the principal international airport of Cairo and the largest and busiest airport in Egypt. The airport is located in northeast of Cairo around 30 km from the Giza Pyramids (Google Maps).

The conference venue is very close to the Giza Pyramids. We therefore describe possible transportation to the Giza Pyramids. Should you wish that we someone of the conference volunteers or a taxi driver will be receiving you at the Airport, please contact us!

There are three options from Cairo Airport (CAI) to the Giza Pyramids: metro or taxi or bus.

  • Taking a taxi is by far the most convenient option as it is direct and only takes about 60 minutes. There are private taxis (no recommendable) and Uber taxis (recommendable).
  • Taking the public bus is the cheapest option at just $1, but there is no direct bus, so you will need to make two changes to the metro and another bus route.
  • Taking the metro (first line 3 then you have to transfer to other lines). http://www.cairo.gov.eg/en/Interactive_Services/Transportation/Pages/metro.aspx  Your closest metro station would be Giza or Al-Monib Stations. From there you can take a taxi.

We recommend busses operated by private companies. They are more convenient and trustable, for example

Local Transportation

We recommend to take a taxi to the nearest Metro Station, Giza or Al-Monib Stations. Then reach your destination by metro. The metro covers the Greater Cairo.
