Description

A new measurement of non-perturbative track functions, or, the ratio of a jet's transverse momentum carried by its charged constituents to its complete transverse momentum, is performed in 140 fb$^{-1}$ of proton–proton collisions with $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV centre-of-mass energy recorded with the ATLAS detector at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. The measurement is made using dijet events, differentially in bins of jet transverse momentum and the relative jet rapidity in dijet systems. The measured distributions are corrected for detector resolution effects using Iterative Bayesian Unfolding (IBU). Moments of the measured distribution are extracted in bins of the jet transverse momentum, and corrected for binning effects of the differential distribution using a data-driven procedure implemented using deep neural networks. Additional interpretations of the measured distributions in terms of quark- and gluon-initiated jets is also provided.
