Alberto Pace | CERN

Director

Alberto Pace is a member of the IT department at CERN where he leads the Compute and Devices group. The group provides, operates, and maintains the scientific computing services and infrastructure needed by the laboratory and its experiments to accomplish their mission. The group manages end-users desktop and mobile devices and supports the needed operating systems as well as deploys and configure core productivity applications and software licenses.

For several years, Alberto has led the Storage group ensuring a coherent development process for Physics Data management activities, strongly driven by operational and user needs. He also represents CERN in the Advisory Board of the Internet Society (isoc.org) and the World Wide Web Consortium (w3c.org).

He has more than 30 years experiences in computing services, infrastructure, software engineering, accelerator control and accelerator operation. He graduated in Electronic Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 1987, where he received the first prize among Electronic Engineering students of the North Italy section.

Kristina Gunne | CERN

Administrator

Kristina is a member of the CERN IT Innovation section, and her main responsibility is the CERN openlab summer student programme and events organisation. Kristina joined the CSC team in the fall of 2022 in the role of Administrative Manager. Kristina studied Communication and Social Sciences at Lund University and since Kristina came to CERN in 1996, she has been involved in numerous outreach initiatives. Kristina was part of the Project Office of the EGEE EC project, dealing with over 90 partners around the world between 2004-2010.  In her spare time Kristina enjoys taking her e-bike for a ride in the mountains, travelling, cooking and spending time with friends and family.

Jarek Polok | CERN

Technical Manager

Member of CERN Data Center Commissioning and Tools team, working on Data Center Infrastructure Management system implementation. He first joined CERN in 1994 as a summer student then returned as technical student then fellow and as a staff member. Has been working in the past on many projects including telephone callback system, mail server maintenance, LEP OPAL online experiment systems maintenance and user support, Network boot and installation service system, UNIX support, Drupal web content management system and Scientific Linux and CentOS development and support.

Andrzej Nowicki | CERN

Technical Manager

Andrzej is a member of the CERN Database Team, specialising in Oracle, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. With a passion for solving technical challenges and a commitment to sharing his knowledge of database systems, he makes valuable contributions to the team's objectives. Andrzej began his journey with CERN in 2020 and recently joined the CSC team in 2023. Prior to joining CERN, he gained experience working with various companies, where he actively contributed to numerous IT projects as a database administrator. He holds a MEng from Poznan University of Technology. Outside of his professional pursuits, Andrzej finds joy in exploring the world around him.
