Traveling by Bus

Long distance intercity bus services providing scheduled service to Madison include Badger Coach, Greyhound, Jefferson Lines, Megabus and Van Galder bus lines.

There are daily connections to Milwaukee and Chicago airports, and Amtrak in Chicago. Many buses stop at Memorial Union.

Workshop Location

The workshop will be held in the Orchard View room, on the 3rd floor in the Discovery Building. Orchard View is publicly accessible via the staircase or the elevator next to Aldo's coffee shop; the main bank of elevators next to the glass staircase is not publicly accessible.

Getting Around Campus

UW-Madison's interactive campus map highlights dining options, buildings, bus routes, and parking.

Parking on and Around Campus

The closest public parking to the Discovery Building is available at the Engineering Drive Ramp (Lot 17), 1525 Engineering Drive.  It is a 7 minute walk from Lot 17 to the Discovery Building.

On Monday, Sept. 11, there is an Engineering job fair and the Engineering Drive Ramp may fill early. We recommend checking the campus map parking availability and have a back up parking location in mind.

Parking on and around campus area is limited. Allow extra time in your schedule to find parking. Visitor parking is available in city-run ramps and lots; and in university garages and ramps. Street parking near campus is usually restricted to two hours.

The campus map shows additional locations of public parking on campus, including a realtime count of open spots in each public lot.

WiFi at Discovery

The "eduroam" is available across campus and at Discovery. Other guest access can be arranged for those without eduroam access; please contact the organizers.

With restaurants in the two student unions and nine delis in campus buildings, the Wisconsin Union offers a wide assortment of foods to conquer any hunger and to fit any schedule and budget.

A trip to UW–Madison wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Babcock Hall Dairy Store, the oldest university dairy plant in the United States. Best known for ice cream, Babcock also makes cheeses and locally produced milk. Visitors may view dairy plant observations via the second floor observation deck.

The Discovery Building offers two unique dining venues: a café  and a restaurant with a full-service menu.
