Venue and transportations

Location

The workshop will take place at the Laboratoire d'Annecy de Physique de Particules (LAPP), located at Annecy France, about 50 km from CERN.

How to reach LAPP

By plane

The closest airport is the Geneva Cointrin International Airport (GVA). From there you can either use the common bus we organize on Monday and Friday for the interested participants (please signal your interest in the registration form!) of the schedule meets your flight timetable, or by taxi (fell free to contact us and we can help you to organise the transfer) or , if you wish, by renting a car.

Common buses timetable

  • Monday 29/1
    • Departure from GVA airport: RDV at 11h10 in the Arrival Lobby (Marco Delmastro will be there), bus will leave to LAPP at 11:30.
    • Departure from CERN: RDV at the Science Gateway bus parking at 10:40 (Christophe Grojean will be there), bus will leave to LAPP at 11h00

  • Friday 2/2:
    • Departure from LAPP at 13h30 for an arrival at GVA airport at ~14h30 and at CERN at ~15h15.

By car

You can easily drive to LAPP from the Geneva airport or CERN in about 45-50 minutes. LAPP has a large parking space, but please let the organizers know whether you will be coming by car to make sure there will be space for everybody.

By train

Annecy is connected to the French and European railway system, and you can find suitable connections to all major cities in Europe.

By Flixibus from Geneva

In case you are at CERN, don't have a car and cannot take the common buses we plan ot organise on Monday 29/1 and Firday 2/2, an alternative possibility to reacch Annecy is by Flixibus (timetable).

Once in Annecy

The most convenient means of transportation from the city centre, where the Railway station is situated, is by bus. To reach LAPP, you should take bus number n. 1 (direction "Parc de Glaisin") or n. 4  (direction "Campus") and get off at the "Campus" stop (it will be the last stop for bus n. 4.

You will notice a roundabout with a LEP accelerating cavity (!): the building facing you is LAPP, and the entrance to the building is clearly marked. The bus journey from the centre takes about 20' and buses are rather frequent (about avery 10'). A one-way bus ticket costs 1.5 euro, independently of the length of the journey (you can get a 10 trip ticket for 11.70 EUR)

Taxi

We do not recommend taking a taxi from the city centre to LAPP anr/or back unless really needed.
