Description
The lecture gives a short introduction on the large field of mechanical measurements. This domain covers a large number of different technologies like mechanics, mechatronics, optics, acoustics, metrology, material science, thermodynamics, electricity, electronics, data acquisition and - storage, analysis techniques,…. The lecture focusses on measurement and data analysis techniques typically used in particle accelerator and detector developments. In addition, a view is given on measurements in challenging conditions such as cryogenic temperatures, high magnetic fields and several other difficulties encountered by the CERN MME Mechanical measurement lab. Throughout the talk, references will be given to books and articles as an additional source of information.
