Practical Information

The event will take place at CERN.

Important (please read):

Laser pointers are basically forbidden in Switzerland (since mid 2019). Entering Switzerland with these devices leads to important legal consequences (and the seizure of the devices).

Of course at the conference there will be 'non-laser' pointers for all presentations.

Accommodation

Please book your hotels and flights in due time (i.e. the sooner the better!). The conference will take place on the Meyrin site (next to the tramway 18 end station) so you might want look for accommodation in Switzerland (Geneva area) or in the nearby France (St Genis-Pouilly and nearby villages). In all cases we suggest to check the availability of public transport to reach the CERN site).

Reaching CERN

We provide some basic information on how to reach the conference site.

You can also visit the CERN main web site.

As a visitor you will enter through Entrance B (open 24/7). Please ensure that you have your visitor access badge which will be sent to you by email in the week before the event (and, if applicable, the CERN hostel booking). It is sufficient to have these documents available on your phone. You will need to show this and an identity document to security.

Once on the site, make your way to building 503 (Council Chamber).

At the entrance to the conference you will be able to pick up a hardcopy of the visitor badge.

Finding the conference room

The conference will take place in the "Council Chamber", 503/1-001, meaning building 503, 1st floor, Room number 1. Building 503 sometimes appears on maps as Building 64. You will find the room at coordinates 6° 13′ 53.37″ N, 006° 03′ 18.11″ E.

There is a mobile application to help you find your way around the site.
