First circular

We are happy to announce that the XVII International Conference on Resistive Plate Chambers and Related Detectors (RPC2024) will take place in Santiago de Compostela from the 9th to the 13th of September, 2024. Santiago is an important cultural and religious European hub, both its old town and Way of St James being part of UNESCO world heritage. Situated in the North-West of Spain, where the early romans identified the End of the Earth (‘Finisterrae’), its university (USC) is one of the oldest continuously running universities in the world. USC played a role in bringing timing MRPCs mainstream, through its involvement on the HADES experiment at GSI-Darmstadt since the beginning of the 00’s, but it is also known for his early contributions to the MPGD technology in the DIRAC experiment (late 90’s) and, recently (last 10 years), on TPCs for neutrino physics.

This conference continues a long tradition of scientific meetings, originated in Lecce in 1991 and continued with biannual appointments in Roma, Pavia, Napoli, Bari, Coimbra, Clermont-Ferrand, Seoul, Mumbai, Darmstadt, Frascati, Beijing, Ghent, Puerto Vallarta, Rome, and Geneva. The RPC2024 conference in Santiago de Compostela aims at reviewing the status of the field as well as providing guidance for future developments. The scientific program will consist of invited talks and selected oral contributions, together with a poster session. To encourage participation of young students, several grants will be awarded, with preference to those presenting an oral contribution.

Although we will provide timely updates through subsequent circulars, you will find up-to-date information at the conference webpage at any time: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1354736/

Please note that, in order to facilitate a prompt reservation of accommodation in September, the abstract submission deadline is set to June 1st, and acceptance/rejection of the proposed contributions will be communicated soon after that. The conference format aims at blending the science discussions with the cultural and culinary experiences that the city has to offer, and several social events are programmed during the meeting.

Do not hesitate to contact us at the official conference email address if help would be needed with your visa application or anything else: rpc2024.technicalsecretariat@trevisani.es.

Second circular

The date of start of the XVII International Conference on Resistive Plate Chambers and Related Detectors (RPC2024) is approaching. In order to allow late submissions, the deadline for contributions has been extended today for 1 month, and up to July 1th. Despite this extension, we encourage you to register and specially book your accommodation as soon as possible in view of the fact that September is high season and we expect a large influx of tourists and pilgrims to Santiago.

A decision regarding all works submitted by June 1st has been made, and we hope you could use that to initiate your trip arrangements if you have not yet done so (you should have received information regarding confirmation/rejection of your contribution, please contact us at RPC2024@igfae.usc.es otherwise).
