Description

This is a first meeting of 2024 to start discussing HL-LHC BGI (will repeat monthly).

Present:

Juri, Clara, Mark, Gabriela, Wilfried, Gunn

Clara Presentation:

  • using 3D of 4Dphoton design, old magnet from D. Bodart and see if we can fit in and made a conceptual design
  • Swan thesis - found some details
  • Uncertainty <5% in profile error (IPM, CST)
  • Goals and considerations
  • 1st design concept with L shape top chamber for HV feedthrough (slide 7), hard to imagine how to attach HV to cathode.
  • IPM simulations by Clara, CF250 flange seems good based on the error and size tradeoff
  • Likely need to increase gap of magnet opening by at least 20mm
  • Few conceptual design sketches drawn up to address on how the chamber layout and how the HV feedthrough will go in.
  • Some more ideas came up (30 degree angle feedthrough etc).
  • Suggestion on welding the HV feedthrough directly on the flange instead of connecting through a CF40 flange
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
    • 14:00 14:20
      General overview and timeline 20m
      • baseline instrument for HL-LHC (see BGI BGV review)
      • install prototype during YETS 2024-2025
      • install final instrument in LS3
      • will be based on single TPX4 chip
      • what is done so far
      • what needs to be done in near future (time sensitive actions)
      Speaker: James Storey (CERN)
    • 14:20 14:40
      Conceptual design 20m
      • Can we use the magnets proposed by D. Bodart (0.7 Tesla) ?
      • If yes, magnet opening is only 150mm
      • Clara looking into conceptual design
Speakers: Clara Marie Fleisig (University of Toronto (CA)), Gunn Khatri (CERN)
    • 14:40 15:00
      Electronics 20m
      • use 4Dphoton timepix mount on ceramic PCB
      • timepix 4 electronics
      Speaker: Mark Mclean (CERN)
