Daresbury Laboratory

On Wednesday, 13 March, the meeting will be continued at Daresbury Laboratory, followed by the opportunity to take part in a tour of the lab.

Transfer from Liverpool to Daresbury (one-way only!) is included in the registration fee.

The coach to Daresbury Laboratory will depart from Novotel Liverpool Paddington Village on Wednesday, 8.30am. 

From its inception in 1962, Daresbury Laboratory has pushed the boundaries of modern science. Over 60 years on, it is internationally recognised for world-leading scientific excellence in a diverse variety of fields ranging from nuclear physics to supercomputing. Daresbury’s achievements consistently deliver impact on a human scale and have inspired scientists, adults and children alike.

Daresbury Laboratory employs around 300 staff, and scientists and engineers, from both the university research community and industrial research base, use our facilities.

Daresbury Laboratory is located at the Sci-Tech Daresbury campus, which is based in the Liverpool city region. It is 11 miles (18.5 km) from Liverpool John Lennon Airport and 19 miles (31.5 km) from Manchester Airport. The taxi fare from Daresbury Laboratory to either airport is approximately £30.

By bus

By car

Daresbury Laboratory is 5 miles (8 km) south west of Warrington and 5 miles (8 km) east of Runcorn, immediately to the west of the A56 near the village of Daresbury.

It is located 1 mile (1.6 km) down the A56 from junction 11 of the M56 motorway, connecting to the national motorway network via the M6 (6 miles east).

Notice that travelling from Liverpool by car, the new Mersey Gateway Bridge connecting Runcorn and Liverpool is the fastest route. However, this bridge is tolled and costs £2.00 each way to cross.
