Since the hotels in downtown New Haven can be pricey (and are further from the meeting location on campus), we also recommend looking into Airbnbs in the East Rock neighborhood. East Rock is a charming New England-style neighborhood within close walking distance of Science Hill, where the meeting discussions will be held, with many local restaurants, coffee shops, and bars.
