Participants: Danny, Manuel, Peter, Oliver, Svetozar, Clara, Stefan, Jim, Francisca, Piotr, Fernando, Hervé, Frank, Bobby, Wayne 1) Interesting new features of 3.6 Manuel introduced three interesting new features of PVSS 3.6 that people may not be aware of: - Possibility to inhibit the lastVal archive whilst maintaining the normal archiving. - Possibility to access objects in one panel from another in CTRL. - Possibility to add custom menus and toolbars into PVSS. More details can be found in his presentation. It can be discussed at a later meeting whether standard toolbars/menus could be provided by the FW. 2) XML Parsing in CTRL Danny presented his ideas on how to integrate XML parsing into CTRL. There are two common approaches DOM and SAX. He presented ideas on how each of these could be integrated. It was agreed that he should start by integrating the DOM model and then extend this to cover SAX. A first version can be expected in early April. More details can be found in his presentation. 3) ATLAS Proposals Stefan presented two ATLS proposals. The first was a mechanism for archiving and viewing PVSS logs in a cetralised manner. The log messages would be published from PVSS via DIM. A DIM client would be built into a viewer to allow the merged messages from all the systems subscribed to to be viewed in real-time. A second DIM client would receive these messages and write them to Oracle for later viewing. More details can be found in his presentation. In response to a questions he said that it could be possible to filter which log messgaes should be published by use of the error catelogue. He also suggested that FW and applications exceptions could also use the same mechnism by using the PVSS function createError(). This needs to be discussed further. The performance of the centralised DIM client would need to be tested. Stefan then went on to make a suggestion for the handling of libraries, i.e. when and how they should be loaded. More details can be found in his presentation. It was agreed that IT/CO contact ETM to find out whether the poor performance identified by Stefan could be improved before looking at suggested a different approach to users. 3) A.o.B. Jim asked whether the supervision tool would soon provide the possibility for creating the required configuration file or whether he still needed to create the configuration file by hand. He was told that he would have to do it by hand for the moment. He will try to automate this as far as possible. Peter asked whether the supervision tool would handle the case where there were several PVSS projects running on a single PC. This is handled by the tool.
