Description

In the context of the Swift-HEP and ExaTEPP programmes' new working group on Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Machine Learning (ML) and Emerging Technologies, we will hold a first exploratory half-day meeting on October 1st at UCL. This meeting  will discuss the scope and aims of the group, with a focus on barriers/needs/opportunities in terms of enabling AI in HEP experiments/theory, and how to best engage with future funding opportunities in this area.

The agenda is in development, but we expect to include contributions/discussion in areas such as:

  • Briefings on:

    • STFC AI strategy

    • ECFA AI strategy

    • Funding opportunities beyond STFC

  • Discussion of key topics in terms of enabling AI for HEP (barriers/needs/opportunities):

    • Software

    • AI/ML-Ops

    • Knowledge exchange within and beyond HEP

    • Industry and wider engagement

    • Other issues/challenges

  • Discussion on the scope/aims of the group and next steps.

Please let us know if you would like to attend and how you will contribute to the meeting and group, by registering below.

In-person attendance will be limited, so if we go over-capacity, we will give priority to invited speakers and people who propose concrete contributions to the agenda. Online attendance will also be possible for all those interested in participating in the discussion. Please register by the 10th September if you wish for your contribution to be considered for the agenda (talk/discussion).
