Description

We live in an amazing and very diverse Universe, in which our Sun is only one of 100-400 billion stars in the Milky Way, and our Milky Way is only one of 2-3 trillion galaxies. The size of our observable Universe is estimated to be about 90 billion light-years. However, the Universe could be much larger than that, even infinite, and in that case the above numbers could be even larger. Realizing how small and irrelevant we are in such a large Universe leads us to appreciate the beauty and diversity of species that we have on our Earth, our true home. On the other hand, ‘Is there life elsewhere in the Universe?’ is one of the most fundamental questions, which will be discussed in this talk, considering different perspectives from modern astronomy and some of the best and most recent scientific data.
