Getting to Stirling
Stirling is in the north of Scotland's populated Central Belt, and is well connected by road and rail to the major cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
These cities are also the locations of the major airports in Scotland, and we recommend flights to either Glasgow or Edinburgh International airports; flying to airports in England and taking either a train or internal UK flight to Glasgow/Edinburgh are also reasonable options.
Regular Scotrail train connections run from the city centres (Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh Waverley or Haymarket stations) to Stirling. Bus/coach connections also run from the city centres and directly from the airports. If you wish to explore Scotland further, car hire is typically most available at the airports.
Getting to University of Stirling campus
The school will be held on the University of Stirling campus. See the UoS travel guidance pages for information on how to get there within the town (and longer-distance information complementary to what we've written above.)
We encourage you to use public transport to travel to and from the School: there are excellent train connections to Stirling via Glasgow and Edinburgh, and hence from across the UK.
CAR PARKING: if you are planning to drive to UoS, we can arrange fee-free car parking in the Andrew Stewart Hall car park (and only that car park) on campus. Please contact the MCnet school organisers as soon as possible with your car registration details (we appreciate you may not know this until very shortly before arriving!) and we will communicate it to the UoS conference team. Without notification, you may be charged for parking on the UoS site.
Visas and ETAs
Please check well in advance to understand if you will need a visa or an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) to enter the UK. If you require a full visa, please ensure to apply as early as possible, and notify the School organisers if you require an invitation letter.
European travelers should note that an ETA is now required to enter the UK, but can be obtained online rapidly and at a low cost: see details here.
