Introduction:
HDR The NSF HDR Anomaly Detection Hackathon, sponsored by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) as part of the Harnessing the Data Revolution (HDR) program, is co-organized by three interdisciplinary institutes::A3D3、imageomics、iHARP.
This hackathon invites global participants to use open-source data provided by these institutions to tackle scientific challenges, including:
- Identifying unknown gravitational wave sources in the universe
- Recognizing hybrid butterfly
- Predicting anomalous fluctuation in water-level
First held in 2025, the hackathon encourages AI experts worldwide to propose innovative solutions to complex scientific problems.
The 2025 NSF HDR Hackathon briefing session will be held simultaneously on December 23 (Monday) at National Taiwan University, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Tsing Hua University, National Central University, National Sun Yat-sen University, National Cheng Kung University and National Chung Hsing University, with live streaming available. Details on scheduling and registration are provided below.

This hackathon is open to AI professionals and enthusiasts worldwide. Participants can join as individuals or teams to address challenges by:
- Registering on the Codabench platform.
- Downloading open-source datasets to train and validate models.
- Uploading their final AI models to Codabench for testing.
