N. Peray showing the status on the impregnation and reaction mold concepts:
- Different options for the cermaic bearings. Provider is already in the CERN system.
- Two options (linear or spheric), both could work but the important is to maintain the proper design accounting for the differential thermal expansion (We are not limited by the load, but by the thermal expansion of the different components).
- The concept for the impregnation mold has been presented, aiming at creating already a sort of smart-shim at the impregnation stage. We will further discuss on this after additional review.
N. Lusa showing the status of the sliding mock-up tests:
- Everybody agrees on the proposal. Green light to buy as soon as possible all components needed.
- First order gaps were also shown.
Susana showing an overview on the perspectives towards longer block-type coils with flared ends within HFM:
- Presentation covers in the first slides the rationale on the need of a first scaling towards longer coils to intercept soon enough any type of issue in our production/design. The main objective is to learn from coil fabrication.
- A first preliminary proposal is to use available MQXF strand. Scaling to a smaller aperture looks more reasonable, since what we want is to learn on coil frabrication.
- Schedule is right now just a "placeholder" slide, it needs to be defined.
