High energy collisions provide a new tool for the precise characterization of the shapes of atomic nuclei. This enables us to connect heavy-ion collision experiments to searches for physics beyond the Standard Model where nuclear shapes play a critical role. A prime example is the search for neutrinoless double beta decay, a process intimately related to the geometry of the participating isotopes.

The hybrid one-day workshop on Nuclear Shapes and BSM Searches at Colliders brings together heavy-ion, nuclear structure, and BSM physicists to identify key physics opportunities at the intersection of these fields, as well as to discuss the potential of dedicated LHC-based experiments with nuclei that may contribute to these science cases in the future.
