Description
As was demonstrated in the “Schottky Diagnostics I” lecture, this non-invasive detection method provides valuable information about synchrotron beam parameters such as tune, momentum spread and chromaticity. Since the analysis is based on the observation of microscopic particle fluctuations in coasting and bunched beams, great attention must be paid to the proper design of the detector and signal path. After a brief recap of the first part of the lecture, a broad overview of the various implementations and system designs will be given. The lecture will also present examples of Schottky measurements performed on various ion synchrotrons.
