ADTC meeting
Francois presented the summary of the follow-up for the YETS activities.
The AD ring activities are coming near the end: vacuum sector 2B bake-out is complete will start tomorrow, removal of the equipment will start.
The cooling of the BCCCA current comparator is scheduled for the 18th of March.
IST of stochastic cooling is still in progress, Kickers IST are complete as well as C02 RF cavity
Other systems IST completion remain to be confirmed (septa, e-cooler).
ELENA ring being commissioned with Hminus ions. All is going well. A DC mode is ready to be tested, to limit perturbations to BASE, as only the injection kicker and the ion source remain pulsed. A full day will be needed for BASE to confirm the impact of this new mode A date was agreed offline with OP for the 24th of march.
AD restart planning is kept as previously announced, with first protons on target on the 27th March.
TELMAX: installation of the cooling water distribution is complete. Plugs to be added urgently to avoid the risk of accidentally opening the valves (Action Nicolas Roget). The PAX collaboration is expected to come shortly for the second phase of their tests.
AOB:
Sven showed a movie of the replacement of the target translation adjustment system for a more robust pneumatic system (as used successfully on ISOLDE). The good planning allowed the dose to the personnel to be kept to an acceptable level. He also indicated that a spare horn should be available for the summer. The present one was inspected and not defect were observed. The lower intensity operation mode of the horn will be conserved for this run as during the second part of 2024 run.
Francois explained that an operation schedule of ELENA during LS3 has been discussed and proposed to the experiments. An official approval from ADUC is expected before 18th March, to be communicated to IEFC. The confirmation of availability of controls is still expected. The impact of the demi cooling water and HVAC systems unavailability is being evaluated with CV.
Discussed offline with James Devine: The restrained passage in ASACUSA exp area is being addressed. The equipment will be removed to restore an acceptable passage, and the addition of an aluminium gangway will be considered for the long run.
