T4 TBIU BSG Discussion

Europe/Zurich
T4 TBIU: ECN3 beam will be:
V: down from center
H: right from center

Wire tests results:
Dani shows OK with tungsten wire diam 40um to measure 1*10^13 @20ms (~20% signal of standard 0.5 titanium band)
minimum pitch with wire grid is 0.3mm

beam ECN3 will be 4*10^13 but necessity to measure 10^11 beam for commissioning.
Federico says we could measure that -> test next week

ECN3 beam size (sigma) = 0.4 mm H and 0.2 V -> no profile measurable with bands or wires anyhow, but useful for commissionning when beam is bigger
possibility to add an offset wire on the BBSH (BBSV travel is long enough to measure SFTPRO and ECN3) but means no single shot profile measurement as with the grid

Laurie asks if possibility to have a wire grid also for SFTPRO beam

Christophe aks how many wire are needed on the offset grid, because aperture decrease with 0.3 pitch compared to 15 bands with 0.5mm pitch

to do:

Federico & Dani:
- check signal response for 1*10^11 and ECN3 beam size (average and 20ms single shot)
- simulate heating on the wire grid with ECN3 beam (whole beam intensity in 1s and small beam size compared to now)
Remark about heating, can the TBIU window be impacted as well with ECN3 beam? TBIUs window thickness 0.25 Titanium TA6V

Christophe:
- check feasibility of adding offset wire on BBS (1-2 more channels)
- make bigger hole on the bias foils with marks to align (since middle hole is used now for alignement)

- Laurie:
- check how many wires needed on ECN3 grid to cover aperture (standard number is 15)
- provide range of ECN3 beam sizes
- provide Catia model of beam enveloppes
