Description
We study different realizations of the chiral anomaly linear and quadratic in the determinant 't Hooft terms. Following the recent work Phys.Rev. D 111 (2025) 1, 1, we discuss how the order of the phase transition and then the Columbia plot are affected. Next, we turn to CP violation: keeping track of the $\theta$ dependence, both in the linear and quadratic 't Hooft terms, we investigate under which conditions a a condensation of pseudoscalar $\eta$ fields emerges.
