Several international train stations located downtown and three international airports (Charles de Gaulle, Orly, and Beauvais) in the surrounding suburbs will allow the participants to easily reach Paris from any place in the world.

The Pierre et Marie Curie campus is served by two subway lines (Station Jussieu, lines 7 et 10) and various bus lines. It is also close to stations of RER regional trains of various lines (A-D).


 

From Paris main airports

The two main international Paris airports are Charles de Gaulle (main international hub, 25 km north-west of Paris) and Orly (second international airport, 17 km south of Paris). A third, smaller and further airport (Beauvais-Tillé, 88 km north of Paris) serves as Paris airport for budget airlines. 

From Charles de Gaulle, the conference venue can be reached:

  • with RER B suburban train to Paris downtown, transferring to subway line 10 at Saint-Michel station
    • RER B operates between approximately 5 am and midnight, every 10/20 minutes during the week
    • It takes around 35 minutes to Saint-Michel, and less than one hour in total to the conference venue
    • Ticket price: 13 euros
  • by taxi
    • Depending on traffic, it takes between 35 & 60 minutes to get from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport to the centre of Paris.
    • The rate is fixed (65 euros)
    • The only spot where official taxis can pick up customers is the taxi rank outside the arrivals - simply follow the "Taxis" signs to get there
  • by bus (not recommended)
    • when RER B is not operating, an alternative public transport is provided by RoissyBus
    • The bus operates between approximately 6 am and midnight, with 15/20 minutes frequency
    • The bus terminal in Paris is in Opera, from which subway line 7 can be used to reach the conference venue
    • Depending on traffic, it can take between one and two hours to reach downtown Paris
    • Ticket price: 13 euros

 

From Orly airport, the conference venue can be reached:

  • by subway
    • Take line 14 towards Saint-Denis Pleyel, and connect to line 7 in Maison Blanche, in the direction of La Courneuve-8-Mai-1945
    • Estimated time: 30 minutes
    • Frequency: 2-5 minutes
    • Ticket price: 13 euros

  • by taxi
    • Depending on traffic, it takes between 35 & 60 minutes to get from Paris-Orly Airport to the centre of Paris.
    • The rate is fixed (36 euros)
    • The only spot where official taxis can pick up customers is the taxi rank outside the arrivals - simply follow the "Taxis" signs to get there

 

From Beauvais airport, the conference venue can be reached:

  • by shuttle + subway: take shuttle to Paris La Villette and then subway line 7
  • price for one adult:  one way 16,90€ / return 29,90€ . Subway ticket not included
  • Trip duration (shuttle only): from 1h30, depending on road traffic condition; add an extra 30 minutes to get to the conference venue.
  • Up to 15 round trips per day

 


From train stations

Paris is well connected with many European cities with high-speed trains (eg: 3 hours from Geneva, about 8 trains/day)

 

From train station Paris Gare de Lyon

A direct bus (line 63, Jussieu stop) or subway allows to reach the site in 10 minutes.

 

From train station Paris Gare de l'Est or Gare du Nord

Trains from north-eastern Europe and from London arrive in these stations.

  • From Gare du Nord, go to Gare de l'Est with subway line 5 and connect to subway line 7 (both Villejuif and Ivry directions are OK) and stop in Jussieu.
  • In alternative, take line 4 to Chatelet and then line 7 to Jussieu.

 


 

Moving around Paris

Inside Paris, single-unit "t+" tickets cost 1.90 euros and can be used for travelling using the metro, the RER in zone 1, the Ile-de-France region's bus lines (except Orlybus and Roissybus), the tramways, and the Montmartre funicular. They can also be bought in carnets of 10 tickets for 16.90 euros (see https://www.ratp.fr/en/titres-et-tarifs/t-tickets for more details).

A one week unlimited pass ("navigo découverte") valid anywhere in the Paris region (zones 1-5) costs 27.80 euros (including 5 euros non-refundable for the card itself). Bring a passport size photo that can be used for the card to avoid extra fees.

A bike sharing system (velib) is also available in Paris (https://www.velib-metropole.fr/en/service).
A 7-day pass costs 15 euros and the first 30’ of each trip are free with non-electrical bikes (for electrical bikes the cost for the first 30’ is 1 euro).
