Travel
Stony Brook University is located on the North Shore of Long Island, New York, approximately 60 miles (100 kilometers) east of Manhattan. For international visitors, the most convenient airports are John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA), both in Queens, New York City. Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) in New Jersey is an option, though significantly farther away. From any of these airports, you can reach the university by a combination of train, shuttle, or car service.
Upon arriving at the airport, one of the most reliable options is to take the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR). From JFK, take the AirTrain to Jamaica Station, and from there, board a train toward Port Jefferson, making sure it stops at Stony Brook Station. The university is located directly adjacent to this stop, making it especially convenient. The total journey from JFK to Stony Brook by train takes approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. From LaGuardia, a taxi or shuttle to Jamaica Station is required before transferring to the LIRR.
If preferred, private shuttle services, ride-hailing apps like Uber or Lyft, or rental cars can also be used to reach Stony Brook. Driving from JFK typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic.

Invitation Letter
For those traveling internationally, we will provide an invitation letter once registration is complete. We recommend printing it out and keeping it readily available when you arrive at U.S. Border Control.

Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook is in the university campus and in just a few minutes of walk to the meeting building. It costs $209/night. This hotel has a restaurant for dinner. Restaurants and cafes in the university campus are also in the walking distance.

Holiday Inn Express Stony Brook is outside of the university campus (~15 min drive) with average of $151/night (\$134 on weekday, \$234 on Friday). This outside hotel offers a shuttle to/from university campus. This hotel offers free breakfast, but it has no restaurant for dinner.
