Over the years Geant4 has integrated a wide range of features, capabilities, and examples. Many of these are now unmaintained or otherwise obsolete. A proposal is made for future integration, deprecation and removal of features to ensure the quality of the toolkit is maintained and is sustainable over the lifetimes required by its major stakeholders.
In 2023, the Geant4 Evolution Task Force recommended that the collaboration consider merging several smaller working groups concerned with core or "kernel" functionality into one in order to increase coherence of roles, and to better engage developers and the collaboration.
