During the LHC proton run 2011 large drifts, shot-by-shot and even bunch-by-bunch trajectory variations were observed with the consequence of high losses at injection and frequent lengthy trajectory correction campaigns. Injection losses are compared for 2010 and 2011 operation. Mitigation techniques which were put in place in 2010 to reduce losses at injection are described.
