Registrations are open!
An in-person FLUKA course at the advanced level will be hosted at the site of ALBA in Barcelona, Spain. This training offers students and professionals working on radiation physics problems an introduction to the advanced capabilities of FLUKA, a general-purpose code for Monte Carlo simulations of radiation transport in complex geometries, making use of the functionalities of the Flair3 user interface.
This course will take place from 17 to 21 November 2025.

Requirements
This advanced course is intended for students and professionals who already use FLUKA and want to deepen their knowledge on specific advanced features of the code.
Among the topics that will be discussed are:
- The FLUKA environment and the source routine
- Advanced geometry (geometry replication)
- Advanced settings and scoring
- Programming user routines
- Advanced biasing techniques
and more!
In addition, a user workshop will take place during the course. During those sessions, participants will have the opportunity to present their work which then will serve as basis for collective discussion (see below for more details).
Participants are expected to bring their own laptop and to verify beforehand that the latest versions of both FLUKA and Flair have been installed, so that they can participate in the practical sessions. There will be no time during the course to debug personal installations. A few weeks prior to the course, an installation check script will be made available to verify that the software and all its dependencies are correctly set up on your machine.
We strongly recommend that participants come equipped with a mouse in order to easily navigate the Flair graphical interface and particularly the geometry editor.
Do not forget that you should be a registered FLUKA.CERN user in order to download the code and participate in the course. You can find the relevant instructions here.
Course Fee
The course fee amounts to 550 CHF for academic users and 1550 CHF for commercial users. It includes participation to the course, social dinner as well as coffee breaks and lunches.
Registrations
Registrations are open until September 1, 2025. At that date, we will approve registrants that qualify to the course, based on their history of FLUKA use. Please note this course is not first come/first served.
After September 1, registrations will remain open until the limit of 25 places available is reached.
Once approved, each participant has two weeks to initiate the payment procedure. Please refer to the Payment guidelines for more information. After this time, we reserve the right to cancel your registration.
Site Access
Access to the site is restricted and will be requested for all participants about one month prior to the course. Participants are asked to bring with them the ID they will have used to register with ALBA access management. The course organizers cannot be held responsible for any access denial on-site.
