Description
The Tile Calorimeter (TileCal) is a central component of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, providing measurements of hadronic energy and playing a key role in the reconstruction of hadronic jets and missing transverse momentum. In the LHC Run 3 (2022–2026), TileCal has operated under increased luminosity and pile-up conditions, with up to approximately 65 interactions per bunch crossing during physics data-taking.
A robust operational model, combining detector hardware, high-voltage and cooling infrastructure, dedicated software workflows, and calibration procedures, has ensured stable and reliable operations. Data-taking efficiencies exceeding 99.3% have been consistently achieved, with a stable detector response and high data quality maintained throughout the data-taking period.
TileCal performance is validated using isolated muons and hadrons as well as multi-jet events, demonstrating high precision and excellent timing. This contribution presents the calorimeter structure, the LHC Run 3 operational strategy, and the latest performance results, including absolute energy scale, response uniformity, and time resolution.
