The CERN Yachting Club (YCC), in collaboration with Polarquest Association is pleased to host this evening lecture with Andrea Pestarini, a sailor who spent the last 40 years continuously at sea.
Andrea has dedicated his life to the sea. He has undertaken solo voyages from Tahiti to Patagonia, Panama to Spain, etc. He is a Cap hornier, sailed to Antarctica, and continues to navigate the world with his wife Chicca on his sailboat Durlindana, currently in the Pacific (Fiji).
As a member of the Fleet4Science of the Polarquest Aassociation, Andrea represents a rare tradition of navigation: he sails without electronics, relying only on nautical charts and a compass.
An experienced speaker and the author of several books, Andrea will share insights from his decades of ocean exploration, offering a perspective on resilience, adventure, and the art of traditional navigation. He will also take this opportunity to present his future sailing plans from Fiji to the Philippines, Japan, the Aleutian Islands and Alaska.
You're all welcome on board !
