The weekly meeting of the Software Process and Infrastructure project of the LCG/AA.
================================================ Yves Perrin + Actions done and progress weeks (from last meeting till 7 May) ------------------------------------ - several iterations with Louis Lyons and Albert de Roecke about the PHYSTAT workshop after two persons left the organizing committee. A new secretary has been found. I modified the poster and I gave her full rights to edit the website. - followed two Hypernews administration training session with Traudl. - officially taken over the admin responsability for Atlas HN (user support, forum and categories management, etc) - for the first time I had to fight spamming from a registered user (was always from anonymous). I deleted the spam comments and the spammer user. - moved the nightly build summary and the external software dynamic pages to the SPI twiki. - adding warning messages to the 'old' SPI pages as well as the Error 404 (page not found) to guide users to the SPI twiki. - commited two fixes to the Savannah trunk so that they benefit both CERN and the outside community whenever a new open source version will be released. - as PH webmaster/moderator, I had to iterate with a couple of web authors who did not follow CERN naming rules week (8-14 May) --------------- - created several new Atlas HN forums, helped users with login. - iterated with S. Haywood and D. Barberis concerning Atlas HN admin - started to write scripts to help with HN administration tasks - notified new websites authors to follow CERN naming rules (PH webmaster/moderator task) + Next actions - move the services presently hosted on lcgapp1 to lcgapp01 ================================================ Bertrand Bellenot + Actions done - Released ROOT v5.15.06 for for osx104_ppc_gcc401, slc3_ia32_gcc323, slc3_ia32_gcc323_dbg, slc4_ia32_gcc34, slc4_ia32_gcc34_dbg, slc4_amd64_gcc34, slc4_amd64_gcc34_dbg, win32_vc71_dbg - Started to look at roottest on Linux and Windows + Next actions - Set-up roottest on Linux, Mac and Windows + Problems - Problems with Python on Mac still not solved... ================================================ Piotr Kolet + Actions done - Update the log facility in nightlies scripts - enable tbroadcast for all project. A lot of testing and debugging has been done. (much more still must be done) - getting into detail about tbroadcast (the way how the DAG tree is build, haw the project are chosen to run, etc) - make a testing and installing to run concurrently. + Next actions - testing - try to put some part of modification into production + Problems - CMT understanding ================================================ Ian McLaren + Actions done and progress - Geant4 - Geant4 testing. - Built and installed Geant4 8.3 releases for slc3_ia32_gcc323, - slc4_ia32_gcc34 and slc4_amd64_gcc34 in the lcg area and for - sol8_cc55 in the lcg external area. - Built the libraries tar files for the Geant4 WEB distributions - for slc4_ia32_gcc34 and sol8_CC55. - Setting up pcphsft30 for testing on Windows. - Cernlib - Some user support. + Next actions - Geant4 - Geant4 testing, especially for 9.0. - Setting up pcphsft30 for testing on Windows. ================================================ Stefan Roiser + Actions done - Preparation of LCGCMT 52 - this includes the new oracle client 10.2.0.3 and bug fixes for CORAL and POOL. The projects will be installed in the coming days. - Fix a problem with COOL test suite, it took around 6 hours to complete due to authentication problems with the oracle rack which was updated in IT - User savmail on lcgapp01 was not able to receive messages. This user is responsible for collecting bouncing mails. The problem was due to permissions on the filesystem level on the machine. Solved now. - Contacted Alfredo Ferrari for an installation of fluka in the externals area. No reply yet. - qt 4.1.2 installed for all SPI platforms including osx104_ia32_gcc40, thx to a recipe provided by ATLAS the size of the installation shrunk considerably to 40 MB (instead of more than 200 MB) - Interaction with IT concerning the move to the new Hypernews servers. The machines need local users and groups for each instance of Hypernews. This is done via "service clients" and cra reserved groups which are published to the machines via IT (the password and group file are automatically updated by IT). - Also a local user exim:exim was requested for lcgapp01 (savannah) which is needed for the mail handling on this machine. - Grid Deployment has installed a version of their software in the external area (header "Grid"). Next step is to produce the LCGCMT nterface packages for this software (LHCb has volounteered to try it out) - Valgrind 3.2.3 is installed in afs/externals - pcphsft01 upgraded to slc4 (responsible for sync of nightlies binaries for win and mac) - PCs moved to the printer room. Currently there are 3 mac servers (macphsft01, macphsft02, sealg5), two windows machines (pcphsft15, pcphsft37) and one linux machine (pcphsft01) installed in the rack in the printer room (plus two more geant4 machines) + Next actions - Several requests for installations of new packages gcc 4.1 python 2.5 kcachegridn 0.4.6 cx_Oracle for slc4 pyQt for qt 4.1.2 - Produce new configurations for the nightlies to try out gcc 4.1 and python 2.5 - Produce LCGCMT Interface packages for new Grid Deployment software in externals/Grid - Try out ssh2 authentication for the LCG CVS servers, as we will move away from ssh1. - Follow up on HN move (at the moment waiting for IT to provide local users/groups) + Problems - Savannah mail daemon stopped working Monday afternoon. The interruption lasted 2 hours. ================================================
