Please find below some practical information to prepare your visit:
Given that CERN is located on the border between France and Switzerland, we strongly recommend that you contact the relevant consulates for information on the entry conditions applicable to you in these two countries, specifying the duration and nature of your visit at CERN. Where appropriate, you are invited to take the necessary steps to obtain the requisite documents, in particular a visa for entry to the Schengen member countries.
Registration: If you have a valid CERN access card, please remember to bring it. If you do not possess a CERN access card, please send a request by email to the Projects Support Office, to Cecile Noels or Nadine Andrey and specify the name of your institute as well as your dates of arrival and departure.
Please collect your visitor card at the CERN reception desk, during the opening hours between 8:00 and 17:45. Outside working hours, please collect it from the security guard on duty at the entrance of CERN Meyrin site - Gate B (building 55).
Transport between Geneva Airport and CERN: a CERN shuttle is available during certain hours between the airport and CERN. For more information please refer to the CERN Shuttle Service website.

Getting around CERN: please consult the following map.
Accommodation: Due to refurbishment works, please note that the CERN hostel will be fully booked on certain dates in December. A block booking has been made for the SLHiPP-1 participants at the CERN Hostel from 8 to 10 December (included) . If you wish to reserve at this place, please contact the CERN Hostel directly (0041 22 767 4481, or by email) to confirm and guarantee your reservation with a credit card number, before Wednesday 30 November since the number of rooms is limited. Please mention "SPL Collaboration Meeting" on your request.
If you wish to arrive earlier than 8 December, you are invited to arrange your own accommodation (list of hotels) or you may try to reserve a room for the night of 7 December by contacting the CERN Housing Service by phone: 0041 22 767 4481 in case of last minute vacancies.
