Description

One of the first cyber incidents was caused by an insect (a moth, in fact). Ever since then, the lower life forms have been trying to disrupt the virtual landscapes we construct for our users. As our virtual environments have evolved to be more complex, these other life forms have always evolved sufficiently to find new cracks in our defenses. As we continue down the current path we are reminded of a quote attributed to Einstein, "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Of course, he also said, "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." So, let's look at how we got here and see if we can use that to guide what we should do in the future.
