Description

PANalytical is a company in the Netherlands that designs and builds X-ray diffraction and X-ray fluorescence systems. Systems are sold (and serviced) worldwide and many are operational 24/7. Since the year 2000 PANalytical has been an industrial partner of the Medipix collaboration. The aim for PANalytical was to integrate Medipix detectors in their X-ray diffraction equipment to increase performance and open up new markets. A first milestone was reached in 2007 when a product based on the Medipix 2 chip, named PIXcel, was released. A detector with a larger area, 4 Medipix 2 chips in a 2x2 configuration, was introduced in 2011. In this presentation we will we give an overview of the technology transfer process of the medipix technology viewed from the PANalytical perspective. We will zoom in on the role of the medipix collaboration and the Technology Transfer department in turning the technology into a commercial success.
