Description
The bi-weekly meeting of the LHC librarians and LCG/AA projects
News === LCG54d --- We have found a problem with dcache_client, we use the rpm ("noarch") which was compiled agains glibc 2.4 while slc4 contains glibc 2.3. The result were unresolved references at load time. CMS will provide the source code location of the dcache. So we can compile it on our own native on slc4. At the moment the nighthly builds have been reverted to the previous dcache 1.7.0-35. LCG54e --- A new version of LCG 54 series is foreseen. Gauid/LHCb will be released soon. Atlas requested a new configuration by April 30. The when and how will be discussed in the AF today, to incorporate all needs. In addition to the dcache_client fix, the new configuration(s) shall include the following package upgrades. CASTOR "2.1.1-9" -> "2.1.6-12" CppUnit "1.10.2_p3" -> "1.10.2_p4" dpm "1.6.7" -> "1.6.10" gfal "1.10.7" -> "1.10.9" lcgutils "1.6.5" -> "1.6.9" In addition possible patches to CORAL and POOL were discussed which may enter here. Round Table === Atlas --- - dcache problem found by Atlas - resolution see above. - waiting for Mac Leopard builds - SPI has to to sort out a problem with ROOT syntax error on the build machine. Currently under investigation. CMS --- - found a problem with ROOT 5.18.x - Cintex swolloing exceptions - using a private patch from Philippe to overcome it - problem with dcache - problem that read ahead was not enabled by default - using an internal patch to overcome it Persistency --- POOL patch maybe requested for a new configuration - see News above. Concerning De-Sealing - A few problems in COOL have been fixed. - A change in CORAL, i.e. removed dlclose for dynamic libraries to e.g. avoid problems with static variables. - Fixes for osx in CORAL, - Fix in LCGCMT adding adding CoralKernel to the list of link libraries. - COOL needs some more work on windows. Zsolt reported problems with compiling on windows, e.g. linking problems with mysql Aob === - a statically linked python version will be provided soon in the external area ("python_static"). This version is intended to be used e.g. for software deployment (to avoid setting the LD_LIBRARY_PATH for the .so lib).
