Practical infos
Erice is a small town situated on a hilltop at the height of 751 m. above sea level, therefore cooler than the surrounding country: we suggest you to take a sweater and a raincoat with you!
Lecturers and Participants, who have notified date, hour and flight number regarding their arrival, will be picked up at the airport (Palermo or Trapani) and transferred by private bus or car to Erice.
Upon arrival, all Lecturers and Participants will have to contact the Secretariat of the Centre for the check-in procedures. Lecturers and Participants will be requested to fill an arrival form and will be informed about the place that the E. Majorana Centre has provided for their accommodation: they will be housed in one of the ancient monasteries belonging to the Ettore Majorana Foundation and Centre for Scientific Culture: San Domenico, San Francesco, San Rocco (rooms with private bath) or in one of the affiliated hotels.
Guests of hotels will take breakfast at their hotels; guests of monasteries will take breakfast at San Rocco Institute. Coffee, tea, mineral water, sandwiches and sweet biscuits are available at the lecture hall at San Domenico Institute during the coffee-breaks and at San Rocco Institute all day through. Lunches and dinners will be served at several restaurants connected with the Ettore Majorana Centre.
A social programme and an accompanying persons’ programme will be arranged. Remember that you can dress informally at all times.
Erice is paved with medieval large stone cobbles. They may be slippery when wet. Consider this for your shoes and avoid narrow heels for ladies. Hard shoes are best worn during excursions.
