Demonstration that we are still short of a validation suite in many areas, in particular graphics, gui, geometry. It is also the responsability of the work package managers to certify a release.

Unfortunately the web page from last nigth is empty. Fons, please see Jose Lo. A big progress since last release. Most packages have 0 violations. Objective for next release must be to eliminate all remaining problems. Some may reuire changes in the rulechecker: one more reason to make the changes as soon as possible and not 3 days before the next release.

The next release will be Tuesday 11 July (probably a production release 5.12). The Users Guide must be uptodate and 150 copies printed for the Summer students. Send your changes to Ilka asap. DICT Work-package (Philippe) ============================ CINT without MAKEINFO (aka new CINT Build system) I/O Work-package (Philippe) ================ TRefProxy TTree::SetAddress and related improvements (mainly remove the memory leak of the objects allocated by TTree)> Make gDirectory/gFile thread safe Graphics Work-Package: (Olivier) ================================ * Investigate the possibility to translate the GS (PostScript) fonts file into TTF file to replace those in $ROOTSYS/fonts. * Implement the case with variable size bins in TH3::FitSlicesZ * Stress graphics: Add a new test in $ROOTSYS/tutorials to test the graphics issues. It will be called stressGraphics.cxx * Improve Polar graphs (we have now a first version which needs many improvements) - (Will be proposed to the summer student.) * TGraph2D needs improvements: TGraph2D is meant to work on randomly distributed data sets. When the points are distributed on a regular grid,one may see peaks if the graph is drawn with "surf" options. The fix is almost done. Need more tests. GUI Work Package (Ilka) ------------------ GUI Classes: - review and testing of recent changes introduced by Valeriy in many GUI classes - move the GUI builder spacific code from GUI classes to the builder code - copy/paste from ROOT GUI windows to the clipboard by using mouse/shortcut keys *** Review of the GUI base classes in the sense of TNamed inheritance. It can help improving the default widget name generation and having tooltip for any widget. GUI Builder: - Testing and bug fixes - Review of the application design layout - GUI builer help and tutorial Object Editors and Fit Panel: - TF1/2Editors - Fit Panel first prototype *** No info provided by Valeri Fine about the Qt Layer planning. Math Work-package (Lorenzo) =========================== - MathCore/SMatrix: - nothing new forseen, try to stabilize on the current versions. Only bug fixes and eventually some improvements when requested by the experiments. - Update the doc, the online version and the User Guide chapter - MathMore: - move to new version of GSL, 1.8 and use as an externla package (like FFTW) - add a simple wrapper for GSL matrix Fitting: - work on some performance improvements in Minuit2 and Fumili2 Other Activities (not to be completed for next release) - implement the Fit GUI Panel. At the same time work on re-design of the TVirtualFitter - work on the integration of MathCore/MathMore with the hist classes (TH1, TF1) PROOF work-package (Gerri) ========================== Mandatory: -make sure the new version of xrootd is in rootcvs as as possible. This new version must include the necessary changes for TXNetfile/ReadBuffers Realistic: - Consolidation of present status - Follow requirements coming from CAF tests (savannah) - Improve log retrieval and session reset functionality - GUI: - tab for dataset manager - on-click dataset instantion by 'name' - improve log retrieval Maybe: - Dynamic worker configuration (needs debugging)

It was decided to keep rootdev as it is and to include in rootcern everybody currently in rootdev. rootcern is restricted to ROOT developers only.

We had a discussion on the reorganization of the web pages (wiki format). Fons will work in the very near future on a proposal that he will present at the next team meeting (Friday 16 June). Ideas for the restructuring on the front page are welcome
