This page contains a bit of background information about the local site. If issues come up during the conference, the knowledge will be captured here.
Access to BNL site
Upon arrival at the BNL main gate on your first day, inform the security guard that you will be attending the HEPIX workshop in Building 510. The security guard will ask you to drive over to the BNL check-in trailer, where you must present a photo ID to the security officer to verify that you are on the list of HEPIX participants. Acceptable forms of photo ID are driver's license (or other goverment-issued photo ID) for US citizens and passport for non-US citizens.
You will receive a temporary badge that allows you to access the BNL site for that day. Please show the temporary badge to the security guard before you drive away. You should also receive a temporary parking permit for your rental car. Ask the security officer for a permit if you are not offered one. At the HEPIX registration check-in desk, you will receive your HEPIX workshop badge. The HEPIX badge will allow you to access BNL the rest of the week. Present the HEPIX badge to the security guard upon arrival at the main gate. You don't need to go to the check-in trailer again (unless you lose your HEPIX badge or forget it at your hotel!). Place the HEPIX badge in the badge holder (provided during check-in) and wear it conspicuously at all times while at BNL. The conference badge has a clip and a lanyard to help you meet this requirement.

You may park at any properly marked parking area, except those restricted to administration, handicapped, service or emergency (fire/police/ambulance) vehicles, which are clearly marked. Suggested parking lots are clearly marked on the maps below.
